Lancome dates back to 1935, a cosmetics and perfume house founded by Armand Petitjean. Petitjean based his company name on the gorgeous Chateau Lancosme in central France and, having formerly worked for Coty, quickly launched his maiden line with five key perfumes. Tendres Nuits was a huge success as was the classic Bocages, Conquete, Kypre and Tropiques. In the '50s Lancome launched Magie and Tresor. In the '60s came O de Lancome, re-released in 1990. Poeme arrived in '95 and Miracle in 2000. Big gaps in between releases... but worth waiting for!
